The NFPA is the publisher of the National Electrical CodeŽ, the Life
Safety CodeŽ, the Fire Prevention Code(tm), and the National Fire
Alarm CodeŽ , among others. The mission of NFPA, which was organized in
1896, is to reduce the worldwide burden of fire and other hazards on the
quality of life by providing and advocating scientifically-based
consensus codes and standards, research, training, and education.
